This track has a story. Initially, it was about managing to make a decent track out of a melody that had been playing in my head for... about 10 years. The first attempts were put together years ago using LMMS. They were not good at all: LMMS is great for certain things, but not as great for others. Then this year, when I rebuilt a decent studio setup and went back to Reaper, I gave another go at it and... oh joy! It started to sound decent.  So far I had a house-ish track with a vibe similar...

A dark mix for a dark year. In the end, 2020 is just anger and sadness as far as I'm concerned, hence this mix. It starts with a breakbeaty track of mine (because I can, that's why) and it's as cheerful as it gonna gets. From there it slides towards darker domains, with fantastic tracks from Fat Fredy and Hermético to quote but two. It then gets angrier starting with Billion Jaguar's "Shocker", moves to dark progressive floor-fillers (the fabulous "Dark Blue" and...

It took a bit of time, but finally here's the "Troubadour EP": three original and fresh tracks for DJs and house music lovers! As opposed to my previous EP "Together, Alone and Tired", this one attempts to bring some light. It's meant to be fun and carrying hope.  The first track, "Troubadour", is a tech/progressive house tune with a break that switches on a 3/4 tempo and brings in... some medieval-sounding instruments. Hence the name, I guess! In case you are put...

"Together Alone and Tired" is an EP of three original tracks covering multiple styles of electronica.  It's funny how the Covid-19 confinement has exacerbated some traits of our behaviors. Take social networks for instance: they sure make us believe we have plenty of friends, yet we physically spend most of our time alone, eyes focused on a screen. The confinement only emphasized this, asking us to fall back on virtual communication means while physical proximity is being avoided....

The Early Works EPs' objective is to take older, unreleased tracks and make them available to all. The tracks on this series pre-date the creation of the Codes In Notes label on archive.org. Each tune has been remastered in 2021 to make it sound as contemporary as possible. This release is composed by two versions of a track called Zyx. Only my younger me could remember why the track is called Zyx... but it seems my younger me forgot the origin of that name. So there you go. I just remember I...

Each tune has been remastered in 2020 to make it sound as contemporary as possible. Just don't ask me where the title "Rename Me Startup 6" comes from: I just can't remember! The track is an aggressive, progressive piece of trance/techno. The main idea came from that waspy, high-pitched riff that...

The Early Works EPs' objective is to take older, unreleased tracks and make them available to all. The tracks on this series predate the creation of the Codes In Notes label on archive.org. Each tune has been remastered to make it sound as contemporary as possible. The couple of tracks on this release were made while in a "transitional" state of mind. On one side I was still copying my heroes of those times, namely Cass & Slide and many others taking the "progressive"...

Each tune has been remastered in 2020 to make it sound as contemporary as possible.  This release is techno-oriented, with "Automata" also bringing elements of trance to the table. Each track was initially part of its own EP, but I have kept only the version or remix that I thought had aged...

What if I tried to make tracks that sound like early Tomorrowland ? So that's the challenge I decided to take up: three new compositions that would be influenced by what was played during that famous music festival in its early years.  The resulting tunes certainly differ from a typical Tomorrowland track, as I couldn't help injecting my own style into it. Nevertheless, this EP aims to be the closest thing I can make that's a crowd pleaser.  All these tracks are licensed under CreativeCommons...

So after a decade of not touching a keyboard or firing up a DAW, I've decided to return to return to making music. These tracks are my first in a while, but I certainly hope to churn out many more in the weeks/months/years to come!  Anyway... DJs will likely head to track 1, which is the original mix and includes enough cue in and cue out space to insert the track in a mix of yours, if you feel like it. Track 2 is an ambient-ish variation on the main theme. I'd use it to bring in a...
